An interesting question

Posted by on July 22, 2011

I received this question yesterday:

I have questioned why you have no crosses or any other religious symbols in your church and got no answer.  I still continue to come however Phillippians 3 verse 18 warn me that many live as the enemies of the cross.  It really puts something in me not to see any kind of signs of a cross there.  Also I was reading under your beliefs and agreed until I got to this:
The Bodily Resurrection There will be a bodily resurrection of all the dead. The believer will be welcomed to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, and the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting, conscious punishment.WHAT!!! conscious punishment.

I hope you are not afraid to tell people about hell?  I hope you are not the kind of church that tries to dodge that word. where does the bible tell you the unbeliever and the sinners will be LIVING is a conscious punishment.  Shame on you!  I cannot and will not go to any church where they are ashamaned of the cross and are afraid to teach about hell.  The bible talks about hell and the pit, it does not talk about a sad conscious state.  This is exactly what the bible warns me to stay away from.  Those who preach in sheeps clothing, but are (well you should know the rest)

Please tell me I am wrong and taking your church the wrong way.

I sent a response, but am curious, how would you respond?
